Bredthauer
March 6, 1965 – July 4, 2025
Alan W. Bredthauer, brave brother and friend, passed away on July 4, 2025, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 60, after falling at his home in rural Arcadia, Nebraska. Since his celestial discharge, he is flying free with his Lord and angels.
Alan William Bredthauer was born on March 6, 1965, in Ord, Nebraska to Herbert and Vivian Dorothy (Holtz) Bredthauer. He received his education at Ord Public Schools and graduated from Ord High School in 1984.
Alan spent his adult years on the Bredthauer Family Farm near Arcadia, Nebraska. He enjoyed farm life, working with his hands to solve mechanical puzzles, welding items and tinkering with his tools and gadgets. He was prepared to solve the next project.
Alan was a kind and caring friend and neighbor. He never complained or felt sorry for himself despite challenges of losing his right arm in 2020. He enjoyed the simple life with a cheerful attitude and a good sense of humor.
Alan spent time attending ag tours and auctions, traveling to Branson and shopping for himself and others. He was a social person and enjoyed mingling with people.
Alan was baptized and a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He belonged to the Ord Young Farmers and was an alum of FFA.
Survivors include three brothers, Marty Bredthauer and his wife, Karen of Broken Bow, Jake Bredthauer of Ord and Norman Bredthauer of Arcadia; a sister, Jan Hollingworth and her husband, Dan of Billings, Montana; nieces and nephews, Troy Bredthauer, Lance Bredthauer and his wife, Shu and their children, Mercedes, Vivian, Daphne, Hans and Ophelia; Brooke Bredthauer, and Kelsey Shay and her husband, Riley and their children, Raine, Raelyn and Rosette; and a host of family, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-nephew, Emmanuel Yuan Bredthauer.
A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church. Pastor Adam Archer will officiate. Interment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit or St. John's Lutheran Church.
