Obituary

Arliss L. Gydesen, 89, of Ord passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska.

Arliss Lillian was born on August 22, 1935, at Wahoo, Nebraska to Leonard and Lillian (Theifoldt) Watson. When Arliss and her twin brother, Arthur were two years old, their mother passed away from polio. The twins went to live with their paternal grandparents in Ericson, Nebraska. Arliss spent her childhood in Ericson where she received her education and graduated from High School in 1953.

On August 23, 1953, Arliss was united in marriage to Marvin D. Gydesen at Ericson, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Randy, Cindy and Vicky. The couple purchased a farm of their own northeast of Ord where they farmed and raised their family. In 1997, Marvin and Arliss retired and moved to Ord.

Arliss spent time caring for their children and their home. She enjoyed gardening; and was a member of the United Methodist Church and an extension club.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharon Gydesen of Ord; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Mike Svoboda of Missoula, Montana; six grandchildren, Tara (Ryan) May, Shane Svoboda, Kristin Gydesen, Grady (Jolene) Gydesen, Grant (Jamie) Gydesen and Cassidy (Brandon) Barker; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin who passed away on March 17, 2018; her daughter, Vicky Partridge; a sister, Nellie; and brothers, Billy and Arthur.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Reverend Spenser Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
