Cody Rey “Code Green” Reed of Ord, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord at the age of 28.

Born on February 9, 1998, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, to Deryl LeRoy, Jr., and Jodie JoAnn (Kriss) Reed, Cody spent his early years in the countryside near Comstock. He cherished his childhood adventures, exploring the tree lines and enjoying the serene country life. Cody received his early education at Sargent Public School. In 2013, the family moved to Ord, where Cody graduated from Ord High School while working for Zaruba Construction.

Cody's career began during his senior year at Edghill’s Used Cars and Repair. He most recently served as a ditch rider for the North Loup River Public Power and Irrigation District.

Cody had a love for cooking; sharing that passion by serving as a cook at the Ord Veterans Club.

A true outdoorsman, Cody loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and working on derby cars.

He was a member of bowling leagues at Longhorn Lanes in Burwell and was involved in the Sons of the American Legion.

He is survived by his parents, Deryl and Jodie of Ord; his devoted siblings, Lance Reed and Breanna Reed both of Ord; grandfather, Deryl Reed, Sr. of North Platte; grandmother, Sharlene Skinner of Ord and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Karen Kriss; step grandfather, Ed Skinner and step grandmother, Janet Reed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Fire Hall. 

To follow the family’s request, memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers or plants.
