Dale Kehler
Dale E. Kehler, 90, of Greeley passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Greeley Care Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. Father Tom Ryan will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the O'Connor Cemetery southeast of Greeley. Visitation will be on Friday at the Church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited by Deacon Neil Baquet at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Children's Home, Greeley Fire and Rescue Department or O'Connor Cemetery Fund.
Dale E. was born December 11, 1930, at Pierce, Nebraska to Ted and Marie (Reed) Buerkle. As a child, she moved to Plainview, Nebraska where Dale's father was the newspaper editor. She was raised in the newspaper business and operated the linotype and presses. Dale graduated as the Valedictorian of Plainview High School in 1949. She continued her education and graduated summa cum laude from Hasting College in 1954 and Mary Lanning School of Nursing as a RN. Dale worked at the Spalding Hospital and Greeley Care Home.
In August of 1954, Dale was united in marriage to Francis J. Kehler at O'Connor. To this union eight children were born. Dale made her home and farmed in the O'Connor area all of her adult life. Francis passed away in November of 1978.
Dale was a member of the O'Connor and Sacred Heart Parishes; and was involved in the altar societies. She belonged to the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and was a 4-H Leader and catechism teacher.
Dale enjoyed crocheting, painting, gardening and reading. She was an excellent cook and baker and her sons would say, "Mom made the best gravy".
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, John, Mike and Kathy, Francis and Teresa, Tim and Brenda all of Greeley, and Joe of North Dakota; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary and Matt Roy of Omaha and Kathy Jarzynka of Harvard; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one expectant great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis J.; a son, Patrick; one sister, Jeanette Bellows; a son-in-law, Tony Jarzynka; and a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Kehler.
