Obituary

Edmund A. "EZ" Zulkoski of Ord passed on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Arbor Care Center in Ord, Nebraska with his family by his side at the age of 96.

Edmund Adam was born on December 20, 1928, at Elyria, Nebraska to John Bolish and Veronica Victoria (Kusek) Zulkoski. He was raised on a farm west of Elyria and graduated from Ord High School in 1946.

Edmund joined the United States Army in January of 1949. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in September of 1952.

Edmund and Dixie Lee Stone were united in marriage on June 14, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria. They made their first home on the farm west of Elyria. In 1962, they settled on a farm in the Springdale Township of Valley County. Edmund spent his life farming. He and Dixie spent 51 years together until her passing on November 25, 2013.

Edmund was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and was a Eucharistic Minister and usher. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the Karp and Krow at Ord.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., serving as V.F.W. commander and District #12 Commander of the American Legion. He was a member of the Ord Veterans Club and Veterans Memorial Boards and participated in the color guard for many years.

For 20 years, he was involved in the Valley County A.S.C.S committee and served on the district #6 and St. Mary's School Boards.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Marty of Hastings, Doug of Ord, and Todd and Pam of Ord; a daughter and son-in-law, Denice and Iry Grigg of Bladen; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one expectant great-grandchild; his special friend, Beverly Dubas of Ord; and many relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dixie; two sons, Jimmy and Jerry Zulkoski; a grandson, Shawn Grigg; four brothers, Enus, Raymond, Rolland and Bennie and four sisters, Lorraine, Bernice, Pat and Marie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Paul Colling with be the Mass Celebrant. Interment will be In the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented at the graveside by the Ord VFW Post 7029, American Legion Post #38, and Sons of the American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
