Elizabeth A. McCallister, 95, of Greeley passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Elizabeth Ann (known as Betty or BB to family and friends) was born outside of Spalding, Nebraska on February 8, 1929, to John and Veronica (Naughton) McCarthy. She attended Spalding Academy, graduating with the class of 1947.
For a short time, BB taught school; before entering the United States Air Force in March of 1952. While serving in Alabama she met William A. "Mack" McCallister. The couple was married on September 1, 1953, at Montgomery, Alabama. BB was honorably discharged in January of 1955; Mack continued to serve in the Air Force for 20 years.
BB and Mack were blessed with ten children. They raised their family in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina until settling in Greeley, Nebraska in 1989.
BB enjoyed gardening, country music, boxing, MMA fights, crossword puzzles, Mollie B Polka and strawberry milkshakes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Janet, Kathy, Kevin, Patricia and Joseph; six grandchildren, Angela, Mindy, Jessica, Felicia, Tonya and Katrina; and five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Garrett, Truman, Lewis and Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mack who passed away on April 20, 1996; five children, William T. "Ben", Mark, Daniel, Christopher and Amy; two sister, Marie and Rose; and two brothers, Ambrose and Edward.
Her wishes were to be cremated. Memorial Services are pending at T.J. Finn and Sons in Greeley.
