Galen Manchester
Galen K. Manchester, 60, of Ord passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at his home in Ord surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.
Mr. Manchester's wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Spenser Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or the Valley County Health System Hospice.
Galen Keith was born to Keith and Shirley (Wilson) Manchester on August 5, 1961, at Ord, Nebraska. Galen spent his childhood in Ord where he received his education and graduated from Ord High School in 1980.
Following high school he worked as a mechanic at Todsen Chevrolet and Spady Motors. Galen began working at Ulrich's Gravel Pit where he was a heavy equipment and pump operator. Galen married Rita Killion at Ord, Nebraska and to this union a son, Telle was born.
For a short time he lived in Lincoln and was involved in running fiber optic cable for Level 3 Fiber Optics. Upon his return to Ord he continued his career at Ulrich Gravel until ill health cause him to retire.
Galen was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and anything to keep him busy. He was proud of his new Harley Davidson Motorcycle and enoyed his trip to Sturgis.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley; a son and daughter-in-law, Telle and Jody Manchester; three grandchildren, Cassidy Montgomery and Noah and Brea Manchester; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jerene and Corby Drake and Ladene and Tom Kowalski, all of Ord; and a many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith.
