James Anderson of Greeley, Nebraska passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul at the age of 90.

Jim was born December 15, 1935, to Albert H. and Elizabeth M. (Weekes) Anderson. He grew up northeast of Greeley and graduated from Scotia High School in 1953.

Following high school Jim farmed until he joined the U.S. Army. Between 1959 and 1961, he served in the 18th Engineer Construction Company in Fairbanks, Alaska, where his two brothers had also served. He continued his military service during the Berlin Crisis from 1961 to 1962 with the 164th Engineer Battalion.

Jim was an accomplished heavy equipment operator, owning and managing his own business with great skill and dedication. He was a master at his trade and active until just last year.

Beyond his career, Jim enjoyed Alaska and found joy in aviation, treasuring his 1941 Piper J3 Cub, a piece of WWII history. For over 40 years, he eagerly anticipated his annual trips to the Oshkosh Airshow in Wisconsin.

Jim's life was marked by his love for adventure, commitment to his work, and appreciation for the skies. His legacy of determination and passion remains an inspiration to many.

Jim was blessed with a special lady, Lorene White. The couple enjoyed many years of traveling together and spent many hours on the dance floor.

Survivors include his brother, Edward Anderson of Greeley; nephews, John (Ginny) Anderson and Daniel Anderson; niece, Laura (Patrick) Mason and very good friend, Bill McManus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Anderson and special friend, Lorene White.

The family wishes to thank Bill McManus and Brian Wood to whom we are deeply grateful. They went above and beyond to keep Jim independent at home.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Greeley, Nebraska. Pastor Arsene Lumami and Pastor Bonnie Brock will officiate. Interment will be in the Greeley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Military Honors will be presented by Charles E. Martin American Legion Post #186.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Greeley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
