James “Jim” Foral of Ord, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 93.

James was born on January 22, 1933, in Comstock, Nebraska, the fourth child of Matthew and Emma (Kriss) Foral. A few short months later in May of 1933, Emma passed away from complications of pneumonia. Jim was adopted and raised by Matthew’s brother and his wife, Gus and Mary Foral; joining their adopted daughter Martha.

While growing up, Gus and Mary instilled the farm life into Jim; working in the fields, operating equipment, raising livestock and learning valuable life lessons.

Jim attended school at Comstock where he played sports and graduated in 1950. Following high school, Jim served in the United States Army then returned home to the farm to help his parents.

Jim made a move to Greeley, Colorado where he spent several years working construction in the mountains, operating a bar and continued to visit home to help on the farm.

In 1968, he married the love of his life, Velma Lee Rogers. They first resided in Colorado until James’ parents retired and he was called back to the farm life in Nebraska where they settled and raised their two children, Rick and Julie.

Jim farmed his own land along with helping Alvin Leska and Don Rejda with their farming needs and doing custom work for area neighbors.

With his prior construction and equipment experience, Jim maintained the township roads and was involved in the construction of the Calamus Canal and Davis Creek projects as a finish blade operator.

In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a self-taught accordion and trumpet player and loved dancing to a good polka song with Velma.

As a Veteran, Jim marched in many parades. He loved to socialize, strike up a conversation with anyone and attend his kid’s events.

He will be remembered as a good friend and neighbor, as he was always willing to help and lend a hand.

Survivors include his children, Rick Foral and Julie Foral; two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Foral all of Raymond, Nebraska and a brother, LeRichard Foral and wife, Lyndall of Black Hawk, South Dakota Dakota and many loving nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents; his adoptive parents; his wife, Velma; brothers, Raymond and Edward and sisters, Evelyn, Shearlyn and Martha.
