James L. "Jim" Kracht, Sr., 79, of Loup City passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jay Towell will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family to be designated at a later date.
James Louis was born March 12, 1943, at Arcadia, Iowa to Ivan and Maydelle (Tiede) Kracht. He was raised in Arcadia, Iowa where he received his education and moved to Guthrie Center, Iowa in 1960.
In 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Connie Wetzel. To this union two children were born, James Jr. and Teresa. While residing in Nebraska towns, including Lexington and Callaway, Jim spent his working years milking cows, farming, feeding cattle and raising livestock. He also worked in the insurance industry for Bankers Life and Casualty.
Jim married April Lobdell in 1980; the couple had a son, Colt. For the past few years Jim has made in home in the Loup City area.
Jim was a cowboy at heart; enjoying roping and horse trading. He was the Buckskin Team Captain of the Plum Creekers Rodeo Performance Group, traveling to many rodeos with his family.
Jim never met a stranger. He was well known for telling old roping and horse trading stories at his many coffee groups.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bob Lange of Scotia; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Pamela of Ord and Colt and his significant other, Kammy Renfrow of Springfield, Missouri; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sherri Kracht of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Amos and Lindsay, John (Cady Coy) and Clayton and Morgan; and six great-grandchildren, Stella, Elsie, Eli, Stevie, Brody and Grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joan McKillip; and a brother, Herm Kracht.
