James Dean "Jim" or"Sonny" Voboril was born March 3, 1935, at Primrose, Nebraska to Stanley and Leona (Liss) Voboril.  He grew up on the family farm in Primrose and graduated from Primrose High School in 1952.

From the beginning, Jim was taught to be, not only a Jack of all trades, but went on to become a master of most.  From farming with his father and grandfather, he moved on to work in automotive repair with his father in town.  From there, Jim, his father and a brother began selling and repairing televisions, nearly from their inception.  During the Korean War, Jim was drafted into the Army and drove through a snowstorm where he reported for boot camp at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  Because of his knowledge of televisions and electronics, following boot camp, Jim was transferred to Camp Carson in Colorado, to become an electronics instructor stateside.

On November 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sandra Albin at Greeley, Nebraska, where the couple made their home.  To this union, Jane and Jeri were born.  In November of 1969, Jim opened his own TV and Appliance Sales and Repair Business in downtown Greeley.  Jim continued to run Voboril TV & Repair until 1989, when he went to work for McKenzie Construction.  He retired in 2005.

As a mischievous teen, Jim and some other Primrose boys, who shall remain nameless, would link wires from car batteries to door handles or wheels, outside the local bar.  They would hide and laugh as the old men were "in for a shock", when they tried to open their car doors or relieve themselves on their tires.  And his fun-loving nature didn't stop there.  Jim served for many years, several as Chief, for the Greeley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit.  In this capacity, Jim ensured he was annually certified to put on the Village Fireworks show.  It was during this time, Jim began the now loveable but obnoxious tradition, of waking up the town at 0600 on the 4 th of July, with artillery shells. One in each corner of town, just for good measure.

Jim loved to putter in his garage, practice his woodworking skills and he had a passion for gardening. What he loved more than anything however, was sharing his bounty with family, friends, and the Greeley Care Home.  Jim didn't know a stranger and was truly a kind, gentle and generous soul.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jane (Kim) Voboril, and Jeri Voboril; granddaughter, Nikki (Tyler) Reeh; great-granddaughter, Leona Reeh; brothers, Joe (Mary) Voboril, Larry (Linda) Voboril; and sisters, Elaine (Marnie) Voboril, and Linda (Gordon) Silver.

He was met at the gates of Heaven by his parents; and his wife, Sandra.
