Jerome D. "Jerry" Bauer of Ord passed away from complications of Parkinson's Disease on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 83.
Jerome David Bauer was born February 15, 1942, in Spalding, Nebraska to Vincent J. and Mary A. (Krick) Bauer. He was raised on the family farm and received his early education at District #10 Country School and graduated from Spalding Academy in 1959.
Shortly after high school Jerry served in the United States Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy he attended Milford Tech School and became a diesel mechanic. He first worked at John Deere in Spalding then settled in Ord. While in Ord he worked at John Deere, then for Knight Trucking as a mechanic and drove a truck. Jerry's career that gave him the most enjoyment was being a bus driver for Ord Public Schools; he loved his bus kids.
Jerry had many interests in the community. He was a pilot and loved the challenges of crop dusting. He was a rodeo clown and salesman for Texas Refinery, selling roofing materials.
Jerry was deeply devoted to his faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where he did volunteer maintenance within the church and St. Mary's School. He belonged to the St. Stephen's Ministry and Knights of Columbus.
Jerry was a man that had a gift of common sense and was willing to help anyone with anything.
Survivors include two sisters, Sr. Dolores Vincent Bauer of St. Scholastic Monastery, Fort Smith, Arkansas and Carolyn Bauer of Denver, Colorado and many loving cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Collette Bauer; and many aunts, uncles and relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord, Nebraska. Father Mark Maresh will be the Mass Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Interment Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Michael's Cemetery at Spalding, Nebraska, conducted by Father Lawrence Vadakkan. Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the James Kessler American Legion Post #299.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family's choice for future designation.
