Obituary

Larry D. Grove, 80, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Valley County Health System in Ord, Nebraska.

Larry Dean Grove was born February 22, 1944, at South Bend, Indiana to Donald D. and Lela C. (Kane) Grove.  He spent his childhood in North Liberty, Indiana and graduated from New Carlise High School in 1962.

Larry joined the Unted States Army in March of 1964, serving in Germany on radio trucks during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge in February of 1967, he returned to North Liberty. During his early working years, he moved houses and worked at a foundry.

On May 11, 1968, Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Hostetler at Mill Creek, Indiana. The couple made their home in North Liberty where they farmed and raised their two children.  Following retirement Larry and Sharon moved to her family's farm at New Carlisle until they settled in Ord, Nebraska in 2015.

Larry was a member of the of the Ord Evangelical Free Church. He was infatuated with trains and planes. He enjoyed collecting trains and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jodi Grove of Arcadia; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and John Rich of Ord; three grandchildren, Brandon, Corey and Kassie Rich.

Mr. Grove's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Evangelical Free Church in Ord, Nebraska. Miltary Honors will be conducted by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38.
