Mary Margaret Haschke
1924-2022
Peacefully on May 11, 2022, Mary M. Haschke was ushered into the gates of heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus. We are now left to treasure a woman of faith strength courage and an abundance of love. The best Mom ever to Jim (Sherrie), Mary Jo (Harry), Bob (Sue), Pat (Bev), Wilma (Mike). Grandma with unconditional love to Joy, Jamie, Bridget, Justin, Amy, Travis, Matt, Jennifer, Brandon, Katelyn, and Patrick; and all of her great and great-great grandchildren.
Mary was born on October 13, 1924, at Greeley, Nebraska to James Jr. and Hannah (Caffery) McNelis. She was raised in Greeley and received her education at Greeley Sacred Heart.
On March 29, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Harold Haschke at Greeley, Nebraska. The couple lived their married life and raised their family in the Cedar Rapids and Greeley areas. Harold passed away on March 23, 1992.
Mary began her service to the community of Greeley as a teacher and held many other jobs until she found her true calling as the Administrator of the Greeley Care Home. Following retirement, she wasn't done yet, and began to work part time at the local schools until the age of 90.
Mary was proud of her Irish heritage. She loved being actively involved in the church and community. Mary was always there and willing to help in any capacity. She never met a stranger, and anyone who came to her home was welcomed with open arms and always enjoyed a competitive game of cards. She found great joy in being "Grandma Mary Haschke" to so many.
