MaryAnn Lange
MaryAnn Lange, 91, of Ord passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ord. Pastor Adam Archer will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church.
MaryAnn was born on November 21, 1930, at Burlington, Colorado to William and Scena (Nielsen) Lucke. She was raised in Iowa and graduated from high school at Minden, Iowa.
MaryAnn was united in marriage to F. Vernon Veskerna on May 8, 1954, at Minden, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Rodney, Patty and David. The couple farmed in Douglas County, near Valley, Nebraska. In 1960, they settled on a farm in the Davis Creek area of Valley County. Vernon passed away in April of 1967, as a result of a farm accident.
In 1969, MaryAnn married David Lange; and a daughter, Carrie was born. They made their home southwest of Ord. After moving into Ord in 1988, MaryAnn began working as an instructor at Mid Nebraska Individual Services and retired after 25+ years of service.
While on the farm MaryAnn drove the tractor, gardened and canned. She was also a cook at the Vinton Rural School.
She was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was involved in LWML, Ladies Circle, Dorcas, choir and was a past secretary of the church. She belonged to WIFE, Valley County Extension Club, bowling league and bridge club. She was a Royals Baseball Fan and Nebraska Huskers Sports fan. Her favorite pastimes were her family, grandkid's activities and crocheting blankets for her grandkids.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Stephanie Veskerna of Ord; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rick Rauert of Grand Island and Carrie and Mark Siebke of Aurora; thirteen grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Babetta Lucke of Persia, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Veskerna; a son, David Veskerna; a brother Robert Lucke; and sister, Marcia Lucke.
