Ron Cargill
Ronald D. Cargill, 83, of Scotia passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at the Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. Pastor D. Scott Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice.
Ronald Dale was born August 25, 1938, on the family farm in Greeley County, Nebraska to Neville and Mildred (Acker) Cargill. He was raised in the rural area of Scotia, receiving his early education at Parnell Grade School then graduated from Scotia High School in 1956.
Following graduation Ron helped on the family farm before entering the United States Army. He served for two years and was honorably discharged. Ron returned to the Scotia area and continued farming.
On August 20, 1964, Ron was united in marriage to Shirley Severance at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. To this union two daughters and a son were born. Ron spent his entire life north of Scotia where he farmed and the family operated a dairy farm for 35 years.
He was a member of the Horace Church and later transferred membership to the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. He was an avid softball player and fan. When he wasn't playing, you could find him behind the plate umpiring games. He enjoyed following his kids and grandkids and attending their many activities.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley of Scotia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Loretta and Melvin Hair of Brownell, Kansas and Twila Leth of Ord; a daughter-in-law, Angie Cargill of Scotia; nine grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Janis White of Greeley, Joan and Don Jensen of Columbus and Anita and Vernon Moody of Scotia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gale Cargill; an infant grandson, Aaron Hair; an infant sister; and a brother-in-law, Dale White.
