RON TUMA

Ronald E. Tuma, 90, of rural Scotia passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Private Graveside Services will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Pastor Mark Middendorf will officiate.

Ronald Eugene was born November 23, 1929, on the farm in Greeley County, Nebraska to Phillip and Helen (Groetzinger) Tuma.  He was raised on the family farm and attended country school then graduated from Scotia High School in 1946.

In 1951, Ron entered the United State Navy. He was stationed at Treasure Island, California and aboard the USS Henley. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1955, Ron returned to Nebraska and settled on a farm eight miles southeast of Scotia.

Ron was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia; Reuben Beck American Legion Post #150 and the USS Henley Association. He enjoyed reading and cooking.

Survivors include his son, Dennis "Denny" Tuma of Papillion, Nebraska; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Craig) Critel of Burwell and 3 great-grandchildren all of Burwell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern who passed away in November of 2001; and his son, Randy Tuma.
