Sharon was born on October 6, 1930, to Archie and Ruby (Chipps) Boyce in a cement block home south of Ord on Round Barn Road.   Sharon started her education in the Ord School System.  She then attended Vinton School and Barker School #3.  She had very good teachers and graduated at the top of the 8 th grade rural students in Valley County.  She attended Ord Public High School and graduated in 1948, as one of three co- valedictorians.  She was honored with a full ride scholarship to Kearney Normal School (now University of Nebraska at Kearney), but chose to attend Commercial Extension and Business school in Omaha.  Education was important to Sharon and she always regretted not using her scholarship to obtain a college degree.

Sharon worked in Omaha for two years as an office employee, before returning to Valley County to marry Eldon H. Foth on October 14, 1951, at the Mira Valley Evangelical United Brethren Church, and became a farm wife.  Four children were born to Sharon and Eldon: Cynthia, Jean, Kelven, and Steven.  When her youngest child entered school, Sharon began working in Ord at Schmitt's Accounting.  She later worked at Johnson Toyota and Severson Accounting, before running and being elected by one vote to Valley County Treasurer.  There was a recount and Sharon was declared the winner by several votes.  She served as Valley County Treasurer for 24 years.  During this time the Ord Business and Professional Women recognized Sharon as Woman of the Year.

She joined the Mira Valley Church in 1951, and held offices in the women's group, and taught children and adults in Sunday and Bible school classes.  After helping to care for five elderly relatives, Sharon worked at Grandview Assisted Living in Ord.  Sharon enjoyed her Corner Cutters Extension Club, the Crimson Angels, and quilting with the Memory Stitchers.  She lovingly made numerous quilts for family and friends.  She also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, cake decorating, reading, and learning new things!

Sharon is survived by her children, Cynthia Brown of Cairo, Jean (Rick) Mellor of Marion, IA, Kelven (Julie) Foth, and Steven Foth, all of Ord.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mira Mauser, Paige (Richard) Enevoldsen, Stephanie (Eric) Gray, Ricky Mellor, Shaun Mellor, Tiffany (Rex) Galusha, Bryant (Kristina) Foth, and Geoffrey Foth; great grandchildren, Alexis and Brooklyn Galusha, Jenna and Adley Mauser, RJ and Emery Enevoldsen, Elliette Foth, and William Gray; and her sister, Genevieve Kusek.
