Obituary

Shirley L. Jensen Hulinsky, 88, of Ord passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 13, 2022; at Brookestone View in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022; at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. Pastor Arsene Lumami will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Family's Choice.

Shirley was born May 11, 1934, on the family farm Southeast of Scotia, Nebraska to Fritz and Flo (Perry) Sautter. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Scotia High School in 1952.

On December 5, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Samuel D. Jensen.  While Sam served in the United State Air Force the couple lived in Rapid City, South Dakota and Shirley worked in various retail stores.

Following the Air Force the couple settled on the family farm near Scotia, Nebraska. They raised their family of six on the farm, Raylene, Jerry, Cindy, Karen, Mike and Kathy. Sam passed away in December of 1986. Shirley continued to live on the farm and worked at Vera's Style Shop in North Loup.

Shirley married Richard Hulinsky in 1989, at Hawaii; and welcomed his three children, Karen, Carmen and Marvin.

Richard and Shirley resided in Burwell. They had a great life together and enjoyed traveling and polka dances. Richard passed away in July of 2013. Shirley has made her home at Grandview in Ord since January of 2020.

Shirley was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church and was active in the Burwell United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, baking and canning.

Survivors include her children, Raylene and Rod Van Slyke of Wahoo, Jerry and Peggy Jensen of Scotia, Cindy Waltman of Ord, Karen Jensen of Scotia, Mike and Doris Jensen of Scotia, Karen and Curt Comba of Castle Rock, Colorado, Marvin and Donita Hulinsky and Carmen and Jerry Buckles all of Burwell; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 2 expectant great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Samuel Jensen and Richard Hulinsky, her daughter, Kathy Jensen; and a brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Sharlene Sautter.
