Virginia Norman Setlik, loving mother, grandmother and lifelong resident of Ord, Nebraska passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her home at the age of 100.

Virginia was born on December 24, 1925, to William and Gertrude (Greenwalt) Wozniak on a farm north of Arcadia, Nebraska. Her family moved to a farm south of Fort Hartsuff, where she attended school through the sixth grade. The family settled in Ord and Virginia graduated from Ord High School in 1943.

On September 10, 1947, Virgina married her high school sweetheart, Roland Norman. Together they welcomed three children, Marla Louise, Michael Lee and Michelle Leah. Roland and Virgina shared 39 years of marriage before his passing in August of 1986. She married Marvin Setlik of Ord on January 25, 1991, and they shared 14 years of marriage before his passing in December of 2010.

Virginia devoted her life to service in Valley County. She worked as secretary to the County Judge, later at Ord Quiz, and served for 9 years as Deputy Sheriff. She spent 13 years as secretary at the Valley County Extension Office, where she also guided youth as a 4 H leader for 12 years. Her dedication to community safety continued through her 20 years as County Deputy Civil Defense Director.

A lifelong and active member of the Ord VFW, Virginia gave countless hours in support of veterans and community initiatives. She helped organize the first blood mobile in 1955 and continued volunteering with the program through 2021. She was also deeply involved in the American Cancer Society, helping initiate Relay for Life, the Colo rectal Clinic, PSA screenings, and daffodil sales. She served as past president of the Hospital Auxiliary and was active in the Altar Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church; holding many leadership roles.

Virginia helped organize the Ord Does #208 in 1969 and was a charter member. She served as president in 1972, 1991, and 1999, as well as secretary for 8 years and treasurer for 5. After retiring in 1986, she remained active in her community and family life. She never knew the meaning of the word “no” when it came to helping or volunteering. Her generosity and dedication were recognized when she was named Elks Citizen of the Year.

She cherished time with her family and traveling with loved ones. Virginia enjoyed walking her dog at Aubles Pond, motorcycling, riding rollercoasters, tending her yard, doing word find puzzles, going for coffee, especially her favorite Albino Turtle at Somethings Brewing Café. She was a loyal KC Royals fan and attended their World Series game when she was 88.

Survivors include her children, Michael Norman of Lincoln, Michelle Norman Blaha and Chuck Meese of Ord; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Rose Wozniak of Benedict; grandchildren, Deidre (Aaron) Whited of Ord, Devan Barnes (Brody Sikes) of Loup City, Danielle (Justin) Wroblewski of Ord, Cody Norman and Ciara Norman both of Lincoln, Christopher (Tasha) Norman of Fort Worth, Texas, Sam Salem (Maddie Schiltmeyer) of Lincoln and Emily (Ross) Faubel of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Piper and Gavin Whited of Ord, Domanik, Raiden, Brantley, Kajun Barnes and Hunter Sikes of Loup City, Isabel and Laramie Wroblewski of Ord, Kashtyn Mays of Lincoln, Abel and Archer Norman of Fort Worth, Texas, Olivia (Nathan) Christensen of Hickman, Jabari and John Faubel of Lincoln; great great grandchildren, Everett and Magnolia Christensen of Hickman, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Additional survivors include three stepchildren, Chuck Setlik (Patty) of Loup City, Deb Hansen (Kelly) of Ord, and Jeff Setlik (Michelle) of Grand Island; step grandchildren, Doug Setlik (Joy) of Ord, Tim Setlik (Becky) of Loup City, Carrie Setlik of Loup City, Brenda Lansman (Colin) of Ord, Kristen Setlik of Chandler Arizona and Colby Setlik of Lincoln; step great grandchildren, Riley, Bailey, and Jovie Setlik of Ord, Brogan, Treven, and Loklan Setlik of Loup City and Quentin and Nora Lansman of Ord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roland Norman; daughter, Marla Norman Salem; grandson, Eric Salem; her second husband, Marvin Setlik; step granddaughter, Brooke Hansen and step great grandson, Trustin Setlik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mass will be Celebrated by Father Paul Colling and Father Mark Maresh. Interment will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
